Short-line railroads played such an important role in the history of Ashburn Hill that today the plantation is a virtual museum of railroad memorabilia. The old Moultrie Georgia depot has been restored and relocated here. It now serves as a centerpiece for the plantation complex. The plantation has its own short-line railroad, the Georgia Northern and Ashburn Hill. This line was built to transport guests to and from the skeet range where you may want to hone your shooting skills.
Five very comfortable hunting lodges are available for guests. A conference or seminar facility is also available upon request. For after dinner entertainment, a game room is provided for billiards and card playing. All meals are served in the main lodge with dress for dinner being informal. Wine is served with evening meal. Coffee, brandy, Port, and cigars are served after dinner. A full staff is on hand at all times. Wake-up call in the morning is about seven with juice, coffee or tea served in your bedroom.
Following breakfast, the morning hunt begins. The morning and afternoon hunts last for approximately two to three hours. Each guest is allowed a daily limit of twenty quail. We do not shoot additional birds for a fee. Grouse, skeet and trap are available for the middle of the day target shooting. A charge of $17.00 per round of 25 clays applies to all of the ranges.
Ashburn Hill Plantation has long treated its guests to a traditional quail hunting experience in a laid back, rustic stlye. However, if luxury accommodations are more your style, then you may stay at "The Hill", an elegantly renovated house situated in the heart of Ashburn Hill's long leaf pines. The house features five suites, a staffed kitchen, several common spaces, a billiard room, and more.Guests can stay in luxury and still have the best in authentic South Georgia quail hunting.
